An Example Of Successful Music Video

We have watched together a famous music video. This is Last Friday Nights (T.G.I.F.) -Kety Perry. This a high-budget video. In spite of the fact that this music video was uploaded on YouTube 3 years ago, the number of views continues to grow. Now there are 494 562 120 views only on YouTube. Imagine how may people in the world have watched this music video. However, it can be argued that this is not only a music video, it is also a mini film as it has quite interesting plot and its duration is more than 8 minutes. Overall, it can be argued that "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" is an incredibly successful music video and a great number of people have watched it.

Why this music video was so successful?

  • Katy Perry also uses the "rock on" symbol. This was a really clever idea as it helps to attract not only Katy Perry's fans, but also rock fans.

  • A great number of stars were involved in the shooting process. For example, Rebecca Black and Kenny G. All stars also attracted people to watch this video through their twitters and Facebook. Also, in an interview with MTV, famous director Marc Klasfeld said that the video's storyline was inspired by Sixteen Candles and other works of John Hughes, as well as 'all those great '80s high school movies".
  • Furthermore, the teaser of the video was released on Perry's YouTube profile on June 4, 2011. It was a clever idea to release music video on the summer time as a lot of people have holiday. This means that they have more free time and therefore more opportunities to watch it.
